Kate + Dave's Kimo Estate Wedding, Gundagai NSW by Lachlan Jordan

Lachlan-Jordan-Photography-7488.jpg

I have known Dave for almost 20 years now (were does the time go!). We met in High School and I’m glad that we have still been in contact after all these years. When he asked me if I would be keen to photograph his Wedding I was pretty excited and honoured that not only would I get to see one of my oldest friends get married, but also that I was given the opportunity to capture moments of such a beautiful day that will be forever preserved through my photos. I had met Kate a few times previously to the Wedding and not only is she super lovely but she is also very talented florist and created all the amazing florals herself.

The Wedding took place at the Kimo Estate in Gundagai NSW; a spectacular country Wedding Venue that has featured in numerous Wedding and Travel Blogs and Magazines. The homestead where the ceremony took place has a magnificently kept lawn and in the distance is rolling hills and beautiful country scenery. The reception was held inside The Grain Shed which is over 110 years old. It’s a rustic old shed that transforms into one of the most amazing looking venues I’ve ever been in.

The day was filled with plenty of laughter, tears of joy, beautiful speeches and much dancing. It’s always great to see two people in love, and it was especially great to see one of my oldest friends find such happiness. Both Dave and Kate had such huge smiles the whole day.

Courtney + Dan Armidale Wedding by Lachlan Jordan

Lachlan-Jordan-Photography-5849.jpg

Back in January I photographed Courtney and Dans Wedding in the country town of Armidale. It was an intimate celebration that took place in the beautiful Central Park of Armidale, which was surrounded by beautiful hedges and trees.

The ceremony took place in the morning under the rotunda at Central Park, followed by a chilled backyard lunch. Here are a few photos from the day;

Jade by Lachlan Jordan

My goal for 2019 is to get out more, shoot more and create more. I put a post on Instagram asking if there was anyone who wanted to collaborate on a shoot sometime and Jade responded.

We went out and shot some photos at a few different locations around Crescent Head. Here are some images we created.

2018 Retrospective by Lachlan Jordan

Lachlan-Jordan-Photography-best-of-2018.jpg

I don’t know what it was about 2018 but for me it somehow simultaneously seemed to go by really quick, whilst also feeling like a long year. Maybe that’s because it was very busy year. Lots of changes happened for me throughout 2018. Some more planned than others. I guess the biggest change was leaving Newcastle towards the end of the year and moving to Crescent Head on the Mid-North Coast.

This year I captured more portraits than previous years and I personally feel there has been a lot of growth in that side of my photography. I am thankful for those who have hired me to capture their portrait, or cover their event or wedding throughout 2018. I've met some really wonderful people throughout the year which makes pursuing this career even greater. I hope in 2019 I get to continue meeting wonderful people and grow my business even further.

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you enjoy this post looking back on my photography for the year of 2018.

Neteeka + Nathan Engagement Session at Glenrock by Lachlan Jordan

Lachlan-Jordan-Photography-5029.jpg

Glenrock is one of my favourite places to visit in the Newcastle area. Beautiful bush trails which lead to the beach, and if it’s been raining there are waterfalls.

I took Nateeka and Nathan with me on a mini adventure through Glenrock one Sunday morning for their Enagagement Photo session.

Here are a few frames from our time together:

Rhiannon + Ben's Hawks Nest Wedding by Lachlan Jordan

Lachlan-Jordan-Photography-4073-2.jpg

I first met Rhiannon and Ben after Rhiannon got in contact with me via Instagram to a post I had made offering a free Engagement Shoot to the first five people who contacted me. The weather the day of the shoot was horrible, but we had a fun time regardless of the weather. You can see the photos from that shoot on a previous blog post here.

Fast forward four months and the weather could not be better, it was a fucking beautiful day for Rhiannon and Ben’s Wedding! People will say you are crazy to try and organise a Wedding in 10 weeks but these guys pulled it off! I had an absolute blast photographing their Wedding and being a part of their special day.

Here are a few photos of how the day unfolded;

Joey + Daniel Hunter Valley Wedding by Lachlan Jordan

Lachlan-Jordan-Photography-1922.jpg

I first met Joey at a Cafe I used to work at. She was a regular customer of the Cafe and I always made sure to look after the regulars. One day I noticed her Engagement ring and enquired about Wedding plans. I told her I also do Photography and gave her one of my cards. About eight months pass and I get a Facebook message from Joey telling me that her and her partner had set a date and wanted to talk wedding photos.

Joey and Daniels Wedding was an intimate day at the Millfield Homestead out in the Hunter Valley. There were lots of personalised touches including her Wedding Dress which was made by both her Mum and Nanna. With about 30 guests of close friends and family it was an emotional but wonderfully happy day and I was glad that I was asked to be a part of it.

Here are a few photos from this wonderful celebration of love.

Joey + Daniel Engagement Shoot Redhead Beach by Lachlan Jordan

Lachlan-Jordan-Photography-0509.jpg

Joey was a regular customer at a Cafe I work at, and one day noticing her Engagement Ring I enquired about her Wedding plans and if she had a Photographer. At the time there was no wedding date set, but we would always have a bit of a chat whenever she came in. A good six months or so pass when I received a message from Joey saying her and her fiancé Daniel have set a date and want to talk Photography. I was very excited to get this message!

For their Engagement photos Joey and Daniel were keen on going to the beach. Seeing as it was low tide I took them on a mini adventure of some cool spots I knew of around Redhead and we finished the photo session at Redhead Beach. I can't wait for their Hunter Valley Wedding in September!

The weather yesterday was not exactly the best, Winter well and truly decided to announce itself with wind, rain and cold temperatures.

But these two were super awesome and came out into the elements to get some Engagement shots together and despite the weather we all had a great time!

Adam the Actor by Lachlan Jordan

Carpenter by trade, but studying Screen and Filming acting, this face is one to watch out for. Adam approached me in doing some photo shoots to show casting directors a range of looks to assist him in getting some acting roles.

Here are a few images from two photo shoots we did last year. I'm looking forward to working with him again soon. Follow his progress via Instagram at adam__jh

2017 Retrospective by Lachlan Jordan

hiking in New Zealand

Well it's that time of year again, the time when it's almost over and I sit back and reflect on the year that was. Looking back on these photographs I once again feel grateful to be able to say I've had an eventful year.

This year I travelled to new destinations and explored new places. I photographed moments for people that will be forever shared with friends and family. I am really excited about where my photography went this year and am looking forward what opportunities may come my way in 2018.

I want to thank everyone who made 2017 great and everyone who continues to follow my work and recommend me to friends and family. You are all amazing and I am very thankful.

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you enjoy this post looking back on my photography for the year of 2017.

Bec & Luke at Susan Gilmore Beach by Lachlan Jordan

Lachlan Jordan Photography-7168.jpg

On Sunday I photographed this lovely couple. He likes to surf and they both love living on the coast so I thought sunset around Bar Beach would make a great location. It was low tide, so we wandered from Bar Beach to Susan Gilmore Beach and I captured some great moments between these two ocean loving love birds.

Road Trip by Lachlan Jordan

If you follow my social media accounts on either Facebook or Instagram you will know I recently went on a 10 day road trip with my wife Naomi. We had been invited to attend a Wedding in Brisbane and decided to take some extra time and drive rather than fly. Shooting straight up to Brisbane for the Wedding weekend we planned on making our way back south to Newcastle over the week. Except we didn't plan for that week. We knew of places we wanted to see but had no official schedule for them.

The weather was not great for us. It either rained, was windy as hell, or both. Some of the places / things we wanted to do we didn't get to. (I guess I'll just camp and explore Lamington National Park another time). But still we did make the most of it, and the miserable weather did make for some dramatic photos. We did manage to get sunshine in Byron for 2 days and I even got a little sunburnt.

In the end our little road trip took us to; Brisbane, Surfers Paradise, Byron Bay and Crescent Head before heading home. We went to the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, stopped in at Mullumbimby and explored the beautiful gardens at Crystal Castle on the way to Byron Bay. Whilst staying in Byron Bay we went to the Lighthouse for sunrise and walked all the way to the end of Cape Byron. We swam in Killen Falls then went to the Whites Beach, which could be mistaken for paradise.

Our last day in Byron Bay we went to Minyon Falls, a waterfall in Nightcap National Park that descends 100 meters into a beautiful natural pool. Getting to the base of the falls is a 4.5km walk which takes you through beautiful lush rainforest of moss covered rocks and giant trees with roots as big as my leg! From Minyon Falls we drove to Crescent Head where we visited Naomi's parents and had a day of relaxing before heading back home.

Wedding Album Investment by Lachlan Jordan

I love print. In this digital age where we seem to store all our images on hard drives or online I feel like the printed image is all the more special. There's nothing like having something tangible which can be held, touched and passed on.

I cannot recommend getting yourself a Wedding Album for your Wedding enough. All albums are custom designed, and unique to each couple.

Beautifully presented, the lay flat Wedding Album is a great way to relive, and share with others your special day.
